Things NOT to Buy at the Dollar Tree

The Dollar Tree is an awesome place to save money. There are some really good buys to be found. However, there are some items you absolutely should not buy. Some of these items are unsafe and others just aren’t a good deal. If you love to shop the Dollar Tree, here are some things you should NOT to buy at the Dollar Tree.

Batteries

There have been videos on YouTube that showed that even though Dollar Tree batteries don’t last as long, the price per battery is still cheaper. However, what these videos don’t tell you is that the batteries can leak. For safety reasons, you NEVER want to buy batteries at the Dollar Tree.

Certain Tools

Some tools at the Dollar Tree are good quality and will get the job done. Others, like the handsaws, will break before you even use them. Before buying tools at the Dollar Tree, inspect them closely and make sure they will hold up. If in doubt, don’t buy it. It may only be a $1, but those dollars add up.

Extension Cords

This is another safety concern. Extension cords from the Dollar Tree should be avoided simply because you don’t want to take that risk. If you need an extension cord that will be used on a regular basis (plugged in all the time), you want to spend the money and choose a company you can trust. The last thing you want is for your house to catch fire from a faulty product.

Plastic Food Storage Containers

In all honesty, you should be avoiding plastic food storage containers from any store. There are brands at the Dollar Tree that claim to be BPA free, but there are other chemicals in plastic that are just as bad. If you want food storage containers that you can heat in the microwave safely, choose glass containers.

Supplements

Studies have been done that have shown that Dollar Tree, and other dollar store, supplements are missing ingredients. This means that you could be taking the supplement, but not getting the benefits it promises. Spend a bit more money and get your vitamins and supplements from a company you can trust.

Candy

Last, but not least, you want stay away from candy. The candy has good expiration dates and tastes good, but it’s not a good deal. If you compare the price per ounce, you’ll find that Walmart and many others stores have a much better price.

There you have it. If you shop at the Dollar Tree, be sure not to buy these items. They may seem like a good deal, but, in some cases, they can be dangerous. Before you add an item to your cart, really think about whether or not it’s worth the risk to save a bit of money.
